About the Role:

We are looking for a talented and collaborative Senior Graphic Designer with experience in both print and digital mediums to help design compelling educational content for our language arts products. This position reports to the Senior Director of Design for Mathematics and plays a key role in the design and production of curriculum products used by millions of students.

You’ll be working independently and closely with our internal design team, content team, and stakeholders to create engaging designs for both students and teachers, from concept to final product. The role requires a creative, problem-solving mindset, an understanding of K–12 education, and a passion for designing products that make learning more inclusive and equitable.

Submission of a design portfolio is required to be considered for this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Educational Experiences:
    Help create engaging educational resources used by 13 million students across the country. Develop both print and digital designs that promote fun, engagement, and usability in language arts content.
  • Collaborate with Design Team:
    Work with the Curriculum Associates design team to establish the creative direction for both core and supplemental language arts products, ensuring they are culturally responsive and meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Develop Compelling Design Solutions:
    Design layouts, components, and features that enhance the teacher and student experience, focusing on usability and engagement.
  • Product Design & Prototyping:
    Lead the design of product visuals, including components, covers, and packaging, from prototyping to production. Follow established guidelines while ensuring high-quality, user-centric designs.
  • Work with Educators & Industry Leaders:
    Collaborate with educators and subject-matter experts to create innovative, inclusive resources for students and teachers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 3–5 years of experience in K–12 education, children’s publishing, or media design.
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing visual design plans for print and digital products (including layouts, typography, illustrations, and technical art).
  • Design Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of print design processes including page composition, layout, and creating engaging art programs.
    • Experience creating compelling design solutions across both print and digital platforms.
  • User-Centric Design Approach:
    • Proficiency in Design Thinking, user-testing, and iterative processes (e.g., wireframes, prototypes) to create effective, user-focused designs.
  • Software Proficiency:
    • Expert level in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
    • Familiarity with prototyping tools (e.g., Adobe XD, Figma, Mural) and a willingness to explore new design tools.
  • Problem-Solving & Communication:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent judgments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present and articulate design strategies to non-designers.
  • Passion for Design:
    • A passion for exploring and consuming both print and digital media, with a focus on innovative and creative design solutions.

    • Remote (U.S. based)
    • Brooklyn, NY or North Billerica, MA office locations also available.
  • Pay Range:
    • $50.00 – $60.00 per hour, based on experience and skills.
    • Actual compensation within this range will vary depending on prior experience, skills, and location.
  • Benefits for Temporary Employees:
    • Medical coverage after 90 days for those working 30+ hours/week.
    • Paid 12 holidays and accrued sick time for all temporary employees working more than 20 hours/week.
