About the Role:

Constructive is seeking an experienced Lead UX Designer to join our remote team. This is a full-time, remote role focused on UX design for content-rich websites. This is not a product or app design position; rather, it is centered on designing user experiences for web-based storytelling and engagement. The Lead UX Designer will work directly with our Director of Strategy & User Experience and lead a talented team of UX designers. You will be responsible for overseeing the UX design process, creating strategic and engaging user experiences, and mentoring the team to continually produce outstanding work.

As the Lead UX Designer, you will manage and inspire your team, while collaborating with our strategy, content, design, and engineering teams to create results-driven, client-focused solutions. This role also offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Constructive’s UX practices as we continue to evolve and adapt to the needs of our clients.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Produce Exceptional UX Work:
    Lead the creation of high-quality UX designs for content-rich websites that meet our strategic goals. Ensure that your work and your team’s work consistently meet Constructive’s high standards and drive exceptional results.
  • Shape UX Design Practices:
    Lead the development of UX best practices for the team. Ensure that sitemaps, wireframes, and prototypes follow human-centered design principles and set new standards in the industry.
  • Manage & Mentor UX Designers:
    Inspire, manage, and guide your team of UX designers. Provide mentorship, strengthen their skills, and help them create standout work that pushes creative boundaries.
  • Lead UX Design Workshops:
    Facilitate client workshops that translate brand and digital strategies into actionable UX designs. These workshops will help shape the foundation for mission-aligned brand experiences.
  • Lead Client Presentations:
    Present UX work to clients, articulating how design solutions align with strategy and meet their needs. Lead discussions to balance client feedback with advocating for effective design solutions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams:
    Work closely with our strategy, content, design, and engineering teams to ensure that UX designs are faithfully executed and integrated into final deliverables, resulting in seamless, engaging user experiences.
  • Contribute Thought Leadership:
    Collaborate with our marketing team to create thought leadership content on UX design practices. Share your expertise through articles, webinars, and other content marketing channels.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of UX design experience, especially in large-scale, content-rich websites. Experience in an agency setting is preferred.
    • At least 2 years of experience managing a team of UX designers.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Exceptional UX design skills with a strong understanding of human-centered design.
    • Expertise in creating high-polish wireframes and prototypes that prioritize user experience and functionality.
    • Collaborative leadership abilities, including managing and inspiring a team and providing guidance to senior leaders.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design solutions clearly and persuasively to clients.
    • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work that meets both strategic objectives and user needs.
    • Proficiency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Experience with UX research, usability testing, and content strategy is a plus.

    • Base salary between $105K – $120K (based on experience), plus profit sharing.
    • Defined annual profit sharing plan and 401K with up to 4% company match.
